Creating a Contrail-Based Virtual Service in the Cloud CPE Selfcare Application for MX Series Routers

This topic is intended for cCPE service providers.

This procedure describes how to create Contrail-based virtual CPE services in the Selfcare Portal. When the cCPE customer enables the virtual service, cCPE Selfcare Application and Contrail exchange SDN properties. Any SDN property values defined in braces { } in the Selfcare Portal are replaced with the values defined in Contrail. Contrail then works in conjunction with OpenStack to instantiate the virtual service.

Note: All Contrail-based virtual CPE services you configure in cCPE Selfcare Application are visible and selectable by all cCPE customers in the Selfcare Portal. However, you can define unique SDN property values for specific customers, access links, and sites.

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that:

Note: Virtual services rely on the preconfigured routing instances and interfaces on your MX Series routers, which the cCPE Selfcare Portal identifies and can modify. You must configure you router prior to creating a virtual service.

In addition, cCPE Selfcare Application does not create projects in Contrail. You must define your Contrail project in Contrail first.

To create a Contrail-based virtual CPE service in the cCPE Selfcare Portal:

    1. In the Selfcare Portal task pane, select Administration > Service Definition.

The Service Definition page is displayed.

    2. Select the Available Services tab.

The Services page is displayed showing a list of any configured virtual services.

    3. Select the Add (+) icon.

A new row is added to the list of services.

    4. In the new row, select the Name field and specify the name of the virtual CPE service.
    5. (Optional) Select the Description field and specify a description for the service.
    6. In the FQDN of Service Template field, specify the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for the Contrail service template in the format default-domain:templateName.

Note: This field must specifically match what you have configured in the Contrail user interface under Configure > Services > Service Templates.

    7. In the API URI field, specify the Uniform Resource Identifier for Contrail’s RESTful API in the format: http://IP-address:port-number.
    8. Select the Save () icon to save your changes.
