Understanding How to Monitor MX Series Router Cloud CPE Customers Using the Service Provider Customer Dashboard

This topic describes the customer dashboard available under the Monitoring task group in the service provider workspace of the Selfcare Portal.

The customer dashboard enables you to select a customer and view statistics for all of their sites, access links, and subscribed cCPE services on a single page. You can select a particular customer, site, and access link and view statistics for the associated cCPE services like DHCP server, DHCP relay, and NAT. You can view cCPE services statistics globally, which includes all sites and all access links for a specific customer, or you can view services statistics on an individual access link basis.

To navigate to the Customer Dashboard page, in the Selfcare Portal task pane, select Monitoring > Customer Dashboard. The Customer Dashboard page is displayed, an example of which is shown in Figure 1.

Using the customer dashboard, you can display services statistics for a configurable period of time in historical graph format, as well as display pie charts for current counters. The customer dashboard provides a summary of all of your customers and their subscribed cCPE services on a single page. You can view statistics for cCPE services like:

    • DHCP Server
    • DHCP Relay
    • Stateless Firewall

Note: The presence of a green check mark in the Service for Sites group box indicates the service is configured for the site or access link. If no green check mark is present, the service is not configured for the site or access link.

Table 1 provides a description of the fields displayed in the customer dashboard:

    Table 1: Customer Dashboard Fields

    Field

    Description

    Site

    Name of the site.

    Access Link

Name of the access link associated with the site.

    Stateless Firewall

Stateless firewall cCPE service is running on the access link.

    DHCP Server

DHCP server cCPE service running on the site access link.

    DHCP Relay

DHCP Relay cCPE service running on the site access link.

    NAT

Basic NAT cCPE service running on the site access link.

    Operational Status

Operational status (Up or Down) of the access link interface.

DHCP Server and DHCP Relay Services Statistics

Note: In order to collect DHCP server or relay statistics, you must compile and load the juniper-dhcp MIB on Junos Space Network Management Platform running cCPE Selfcare Application.

The customer dashboard enables you to view DHCP server pool usage for customers running cCPE DHCP services. DHCP server pool usage is calculated based on a ratio of current server bindings to the number of IP addresses configured within the given DHCP server pool for the site. cCPE Selfcare Application uses direct SNMP calls to the MX Series router associated with the cCPE access link to collect DHCP related statistics and then calculates and displays the DHCP server pool usage.

You can monitor and view the DHCP server pool usage over a configurable period of time or view current statistics for DHCP server pool usage and DHCP relay lease count. The Selfcare Portal provides these statistics based on your selections for customer, site, and access. Statistics are shown in the form of a chart or graph, examples of which are shown in Figure 2.

    Stateless Firewall Statistics

Note: In order to enable collection of firewall filter statistics, you must compile and load the juniper-firewall MIB on Junos Space Network Management Platform running cCPE Selfcare Application.

The customer dashboard also enables you to count packet and byte statistics for the cCPE Firewall service. The Selfcare Portal collects and graphically displays the packet and byte count for each configured firewall. Figure 3 shows an example of the graphical charts available for monitoring packets and bytes for firewall filters. This example shows statistics for the firewall filters called virneo_ccpe and ccpe-in. The Packet Rate is shown in the blue graph and the Byte Rate is shown in the red graph.
