Action range provides finer verification of hardware than the platform constraint checking (using the product statement). Because some FPCs and PICs can be used on mulitple platforms, some features are only valid on certain hardware combinations. It is difficult, in some cases, to put such constraint validations in DDL and action range is the solution to the limitation.
