    Release Information

Statement introduced in Junos OS Mobility Release 11.2W.

    Description

Specify the maximum number of processes for which Big Translation Lookaside Buffer (BTLB) is supported for use by service applications. Currently, application-level gateway (ALG) and mobility are the service applications supported. If this setting is changed, the PIC reboots.

The wired process memory, or BTLB, is memory used by the operating system that is pretty much "off limits" to another application. If wired process memory is exhausted, the processes use unwired memory.

    • BTLB is supported only on 16GB cards. In addition, BTLB is only supported with total-wired-memory of 14336 MB.
    • To use wired memory, you need to configure both wired-max-processes and wired-process-mem-size

Note: For mobility, we only support a wired-max-processes value of 8, and a wired-process-mem-size value of 1024.

    Options

Values: wired-max-processes—The maxmium number of wired processes allowed.
    Range: 1 through 8
