Chef for Junos OS Release 11.10 introduces support for the following features:

Providers for the netdev cookbook—The netdev cookbook contains resource primitives that abstractly define the following common network configuration:
- Physical interfaces
- Logical Layer 2 switching interfaces
- VLANs
- Link aggregation groups
Chef for Junos OS provides the Junos OS-specific providers for these resources. The Chef client uses the providers to implement the configuration described by the resources on the Junos OS device the Chef client is running on.
The netdev cookbook is maintained by Chef and is available at the Chef community Web site at http://www.getchef.com/community/.
Native Chef client and Ohai—The Chef client and Ohai run natively on the supported switch. They are part of a Chef bundle package containing the following software packages:
- Chef client 11.10—Includes both the Chef client and Ohai
- junos-ez-stdlib—Libraries used by the netdev cookbook providers and by Ohai
- Ruby—Ruby interpreter version compatible with the Chef client
This package is included with the automation enhancements for QFX5100 switches and is installed when you install the Junos OS software.
