Scheduling an Exam

How do I schedule a Juniper Networks exam at Pearson VUE?

Appointments can be made in advance or on the day you want to test, subject to availability. Pearson VUE offers a variety of scheduling options including online scheduling New Window, scheduling by phone and scheduling directly through the test center. Go to the Juniper Networks exam registration page New Window for details.

NOTE: If you have taken a Juniper Networks exam before and have a CertManager account please have your CertManager ID available when registering at Pearson VUE as this will also be your Pearson VUE ID number. Do you not know where to find your CertManager ID? Click here to learn how to locate your CertManager ID.

What if I already have a Juniper exam scheduled at Prometric?

If you have an exam scheduled on or before September 30, 2012, no action is required. Vouchers

Can I use Prometric vouchers that I have already received?

How do I know if the voucher I have is a Prometric voucher or a Pearson VUE voucher?

First few characters JN Various

If you are unsure if an exam voucher is redeemable at Pearson VUE or Prometric, please email Juniper at certification@juniper.net and include your voucher number.

My Testing Account

What will happen to my records and testing history with Prometric?

Your Juniper Networks testing and certification data, past and future, is the property of Juniper Networks and available to candidates through their candidate record in CertManager.

Existing candidate records, testing and certification history remains with Juniper Networks through this transition and is maintained in your CertManager account.

All new records created through Pearson VUE are forwarded to Juniper Networks for processing and storage in CertManager.

I took my previous Juniper Networks exams at Prometric. Can I take my next exam at Pearson VUE and have it count toward my next certification?

Yes. Because all previous and future exam results and certifications are maintained in your CertManager account, where you test does not affect existing certifications or certification paths.

NOTE: Please remember to provide your Juniper CertManager ID when registering for an exam at Pearson VUE. This will ensure your test results are imported into your existing CertManager account. Do you not know where to find your CertManager ID? Click here to learn how to locate your CertManager ID.

I have taken my previous Juniper Networks exams with Prometric. Will all my new Pearson VUE exams be added to the same record or will I now have different records?

No, you will not have a different record to manage.

Do not know where to find your CertManager ID? Click here to learn how to locate your CertManager ID.

I discovered that I have duplicate records in CertManager. How can I get these merged?

Please contact us at certification@juniper.net to request an account merge.

I did not pass my exam at Prometric, and want to retake it at Pearson VUE. Do I need to wait 14 days before retaking the exam at Person VUE?

Our retake policy remains in place regardless of where you test. The policy is:

Candidates who fail their first attempt at an exam can retake it at any time. However, for any future attempts, a candidate must wait a period of 14 calendar days, beginning the day after the failed attempt, before they may retest for the same exam. Once the exam is passed, the candidate must wait at least 18 months before retaking the exam, which would generally be for recertification purposes.

To review the JNCP retake policies, please go to the written recertification policies.

Will this change impact my Learning Academy account or my Champions progress/status?

No. The transition to Pearson VUE will have no impact on your Learning Academy account or how you achieve JNSS, JNSA and/or Champions designations. These programs receive your JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP certification status from your CertManager account. As long as your CertManager account includes your company name and company email address, all certifications, regardless of where the exam is taken, will be recognized by Learning Academy.

If you did not receive this email or your activation code has expired, please contact us at certification@juniper.net for assistance to recover your account.

How will the transition to Pearson VUE affect my existing CertManager account?

Your existing CertManager account will not be affected in any way. You will still be able to login to CertManager by visiting www.juniper.net/certmanager/.

Will my Juniper Networks eCertificates change?

No. Your Juniper Network eCertificates will remain unchanged with the Pearson VUE transition. You will still access them from your Juniper Learning Portal account.

Certmanager

What is CertManager?

CertManager is the database where the Juniper Networks Certification Program (JNCP) maintains all candidate certification records. It allows you to track your certification credentials and download logos for use on profiles, business cards, etc. CertManager also includes links to the Education Learning Management System where you can print Associate-, Specialist-, Professional- and Expert-levels certificates upon passing the exam. To access the CertManager, click here.

I took my first JNCP exam at Pearson VUE today, why can´t I create an account in CertManager?

Once you take and pass an exam at a Pearson VUE Testing Center, a CertManager account will be automatically created for you. It can, however, take up to 48 hours for your Pearson VUE account information to import into CertManager. Once your Pearson VUE account information is imported into CertManager, you will receive an email from CertManager with instructions on how to activate your CertManager account.

I passed my JNCP certification exam at Pearson VUE, but my CertManager account is not reflecting the recent certification. Can my account be updated?

It can take up to 5-7 business days from the date of your exam at Pearson VUE for your exam results to import into your CertManager account. After that time period your exam information will be updated.

I logged into my CertManager account and my recent certification status is a 'Fail' or 'No Show', but I passed my exam at Pearson VUE. What should I do?

Send us an email at certification@juniper.net and include a copy of your Pearson VUE exam score card. We will have Pearson VUE re-import your results into CertManager. Once the exam information is re-imported from Pearson VUE, it can take up to 5-7 business days for the updated results to be reflected in your CertManager account.

When I recently took my exam, another account was created for me at Pearson VUE. Now I have two CertManager accounts. Can these accounts be merged into one account?

Yes. We can merge both of your CertManager accounts into one account. Send an email to certification@juniper.net include both Certamanger IDs and a copy of your Pearson VUE exam score card.

Where can I find my CertManager ID?

Your CertManager ID is located at the top of your Home page, beside your name. It generally starts with the prefix JPR or sr (there other prefixes, but these two are the most common). Please reference the screenshot below:

CertManager ID

Some of my personal information has changed. Can I update this in CertManager myself?

Yes. You can log in to your CertManager account and select 'Update my Personal Info' from the left navigation bar of your Home page. On this page, you can update all your personal information except for your name. Once finished updating your information, hit Submit on the bottom of this page to save your changes. For security purposes, candidates cannot update the name field in their CertManager accounts, but the certification team can update your name if you provide us the appropriate documentation (please see the question below).

My name is misspelled in my CertManager account. Can this be updated?

Yes, send an email to certification@juniper.net with a copy of a government-issued photo identification (I.D.), and the JNCP CertManager administrator will update your name accordingly in your CertManager account.

I forgot my username and password. How can I access my CertManager account?

Send an email to certification@juniper.net and we will send you a CertManager account recovery email to the primary email address registered to your CertManager account. This email will provide you instructions on how to regain access to your CertManager account.

When will I receive the results of my written certification exam at Pearson VUE, and when can I view the credential in my CertManager account?

You will receive your exam results immediately after finishing your certification exam at Pearson VUE and they provide you with an exam score card that contains your exam score and other important information. The results of a passed exam will be synchronized to your CertManager account within 5-7 business days. Ensure you keep the score card in a safe place because you may need it again in the future.

How do I download my JNCP logos from CertManager?

To download JNCP logos, simply log in to your CertManager account and select 'Download Center' under the 'Downloads' heading on the left menu. On this page, you can follow the directions to download your JNCP logos. The only logos that will appear in your account are for those certification credentials you have achieved.

I recently passed the JNCIP exam, but was told my certification would not be recognized until all prerequisites were met. Why is my certification not being recognized?

Every candidate must meet all prerequisite requirements before a certification can be earned and visible in your CertManager account. All prerequisites for a specific certification are listed within the JNCP Certification Tracks. For information on acceptable prerequisites, please see JNCP Certification Tracks and choose the specific track.

What is the difference between CertManager, the Learning Portal and the Learning Academy?

CertManager is the system where your JNCP certification records are stored. The Learning Portal is where your training history and your eCertificates are located. The Learning Academy is for Juniper Partners and it is where all their JNCP certifications, their JNSA/JNSS authorizations and other pertinent Partner information are located.

How do I synchronize my JNCIx-xx certifications with my Partner Center (Learning Academy) account?

In order to synchronize your JNCIx-xx certifications with your Partner Center account, you first need to update your CertManager account and then you need to synchronize with your Partner Center account. Please click here for detailed instructions.

JNCP Ecertificates

Why do I no longer receive my JNCP certificates in the mail?

In November of 2010 we transitioned from mailing JNCP certificates to eCertificates. We moved to eCertificates so that you can quickly and conveniently download and print any of your active JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP or JNCIE certificates a few days after you pass your certification exam-you no longer have to wait up to 6 weeks or more for your certificate to be mailed to you. In addition, you can reprint the certificate if you lose it, and you can print it on any type of paper you choose.

Do I download my eCertificate from my CertManager account?

No. You do not download your eCertificate from CertManager, you download it from your user account on our Learning Portal. For complete instructions on downloading and printing your eCertificate, please access the eCertificate Web site.

How do I access the eCertificate web page on the Juniper Networks Learning Portal?

You can access the eCertificates page on the Juniper Networks Learning Portal by clicking on the following link: https://learningportal.juniper.net/juniper/user_activity_info.aspx?id=3327.

How do I get instructions for downloading my JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP or JNCIE eCertificate?

For complete instructions on downloading and printing your eCertificate, please access the eCertificate Web site.

How do I synchronize my CertManager account with my Learning Portal account so that my eCertificate will become available to view, download and print?

In order to synchronize your accounts in CertManager and the Learning Portal, in your Learning Portal account profile your first name, last name, primary email address and CertManager ID must identically match those same fields in your CertManager account. We recommend that you cut and paste the information from your CertManager account into those fields in your Learning Portal profile to ensure 100% accuracy. For complete instructions on downloading and printing your eCertificate, please access the eCertificate Web site.

I logged into my CertManager account and see my new certification, but my eCertificate is not available in my Learning Portal user account. I followed the instructions to download my eCertificate, but it is not available. What should I do?

After passing your exam at Pearson VUE, it can take up to 5-7 business days for your eCertificate to become available to view, download and print from your Learning Portal account. Please wait the allotted time and check your Learning Portal account again. If you continue having issues, please send us an email at certification@juniper.net.

I have updated my account information in the Juniper Networks Learning Portal. How soon can I view my eCertificate?

If you have allowed the 5-7 business days from your exam date and our systems have synchronized, then as soon as you update your user account information in the Juniper Networks Learning Portal, you will be able to view and print your eCertificates. If it's within the 5-7 business days, you'll need to wait the allotted time to view your eCertificate.

What if I want a hard copy of my certification mailed to me?

You can purchase a hard copy of your certificate and have it mailed to you by ordering it from our JNCP Store.

I recently synchronized my CertManager account with my Learning Portal account but my eCertificate is still not available to download. What should I do?

Once you have synchronized your CertManager account with your Learning Portal account correctly, it can take up to 1-2 business days for your eCertificate to become available to view, download and print. Please wait the allotted time and check your Learning Portal user account again. If you continue having issues, please email us at certification@juniper.net.

Where will my eCertificate be located in my Learning Portal account?

Your eCertificate will be available to download in your 'My Training History' section of your Learning Portal user account. Complete instructions as to how to update your Learning Portal user profile to match your CertManager account and to securely view, download and print your eCertificate, please access the eCertificate Web site.

I cannot see my eCertificate from the 'My History' section of my user account, what am I doing wrong?

There are a few items you need to check. In your Juniper Networks Learning Portal user account, have you:

  • Input your CertManager I.D. exactly how it appears in your CertManager account? You must have your CertManager I.D. in your Learning Portal user account.
  • Checked to ensure your primary email address in your Learning Portal user account and in your CertManager account is the same? You must use the same primary email address in both accounts so that they can "sync" up on your certifications. If they are not the same you can choose to change either your CertManager primary email (which will take 24 hours to process before you can access your eCerticates) or you can change your email in the Learning Portal (which will provide immediate access to your eCertificates).
  • Is your certification active? No eCertifcates will be provided for inactive or expired certifications.
  • For detailed instructions as to how to do the above, please access the eCertificate Web site.

I need to create a new user account in the Juniper Networks Learning Portal, how do I do that?

Detailed instructions as to how to create a new user account in the Juniper Networks Learning Portal are included in the JNCP eCertificate Download and Print Instructions on the eCertificate Web site. Specifically reference Step 2A for instructions on creating a new user account.

I need to update my user account with my CertManager I.D. and primary email address in the Juniper Networks Learning Portal, how do I do that?

Detailed instructions as to how to update a user account in the Juniper Networks Learning Portal are included in the JNCP eCertificate Download and Print Instructions on the eCertificate Web site. Specifically reference Step 2B for instructions on updating your user account in the Learning Portal.

My JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP or JNCIE certification is not active. Will I be able to access it through the eCertifcates page of the Juniper Networks Learning Portal?

No. Only active certifications can be viewed, downloaded and printed from the Juniper Networks Learning Portal. Inactive or Expired certifications do not have eCertificates.

I can see that my eCertificates on the Juniper Networks Learning Portal, but I cannot view or print them. What can I do?

If you are having issues viewing and printing your certificate, then try the following:

  • Temporarily disable pop-up blockers, as this can sometimes prevent the download.
  • Check that you have the most recent versions of Internet Explorer or Firefox.
  • If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us at certification@juniper.net.

Certification Statuses

What are the JNCP certification status categories?

Juniper Networks certifications have three certification statuses: Active, Inactive and Expired. Access the JNCP Recertification/Certification Status Categories Web site for details on certification status timeframes and eligibilities.

When does my certification go into the Inactive status?

Your certification goes into the Inactive status as soon as the Active status is over, and it will remain Inactive for one (1) year. Your certification is in the Active status for two years from the date you passed the certification exam. Access the JNCP Recertification/Certification Status Categories Web site for details on Inactive status timeframes and eligibilities.

Can I use my Inactive certification as a prerequisite?

You can use an Inactive certification as a prerequisite for an acceptable written exam. You cannot use an Inactive certification as a prerequisite for a JNCP Lab-Based (JNCIE-SP, JNCIE-ENT, JNCIE-SEC or JNCIP-E) exam. For information on acceptable prerequisites, please see JNCP Certification Tracks and chose the specific track.

I have an Inactive JNCIA-EX, JNCIA-ER, JNCIS-ER, JNCIS-M and/or JNCIA-M. Am I eligible to take any JNCP certification exam?

You can use any of the above-named Inactive certifications as an acceptable perquisite for the JNCIS-ENT (JN0-343), JNCIS-SEC (JN0-332), or the JNCIS-SP (JN0-360) certifications. You can also use your Inactive JNCIS-ER or JNCIS-M as an acceptable prerequisite for the JNCIP-ENT (JN0-643) or JNCIP-SP (JN0-660) certifications respectively. However, you cannot use an Inactive certification to take a JNCP Lab Exam.

Can I use my Inactive JNCIP-M as a prerequisite for the JNCIE-SP exam?

No. You cannot use an Inactive certification as a prerequisite for a JNCP Lab Exam. You can use your Inactive JNCIP-M as a prerequisite to take the JNCIP-SP written exam.

Can I use an Expired certification as a prerequisite for an acceptable written exam?

No. Once your certification goes into the Expired status, you must start again at the beginning of the certification track. For the Junos-based certifications, you will begin again with the JNCIA-Junos (JN0-101). For all exam information for the JNCIA-Junos, access the JNCIA-Junos Web Site.

Recertification

Where can I find general information about how to recertify Juniper certifications?

All JNCP recertification details can be found on the JNCP Recertification Web site.

Where can I find information on how to recertify my legacy M- and T-series, Enterprise Routing and Enterprise Switching certifications with the new certification credentials?

On the JNCP Recertification Web site, there is a section on recertifying your legacy certifications with the new JNCP certifications. You can find details by accessing the Recertification Tables for the Retired M- and T-Series Track, the Retired Enterprise Routing Track and the Retired Enterprise Switching Track.

Do I get a certification number on my JNCIS or JNCIP certifications?

No. JNCIS and JNCIP certifications are obtained taking written exams at Pearson VUE Testing Centers. Certification numbers are only assigned to certifications earned by taking a JNCP Lab Exam. The only exception is that if you have a legacy JNCIP-M certification number, that number will transfer to your JNCIP-SP eCertificate.

What happens to my JNCIP-M, JNCIE-M and JNCIE-ER original certification numbers when I recertify on the JNCIP-SP or JNCIP-ENT respectively?

Please see the chart below with specifics on what happens with your original certification numbers when you recertify with the new credentials.

What is the Juniper Networks Fast Track Program?

A Juniper Networks Certification credential identifies networking professionals who are proficient in Juniper technologies. Recognizing the growing need for these skills in the market place, Juniper created the Fast Track Program. The Juniper Networks Fast Track program offers candidates free online study guides for the JNCIA-Junos, JNCIS-ENT and JNCIS-SEC credentials and pre-assessment tests to determine your knowledge level. By passing the pre-assessment tests, you can earn up to three 50% discounted vouchers - one for each of these exams. To access the Fast Track Program web portal, please click here.

Can anyone participate in the Fast Track Program?

Yes. Anyone can participate in the Fast Track Program. The Fast Track Program is located on our Learning Portal. If you do not have a Learning Portal account, you can register for an account at Learning Portal Home by selecting ‘Register’ from the navigation bar at the top of the Home page.

I tried launching the pre-assessment exam, but it will not launch. What should I do?

Please disable any pop-up blockers you may have set, and attempt to launch the pre-assessment exam again. Once you´ve disabled the pop-up blockers, you should be able to take the pre-assessment exam. If you continue having problems launching the pre-assessment exam, please open a Learning Portal Support Ticket.
