The WLC200 Wireless LAN Controller provides an entry-level controller platform for mid-sized enterprises. Designed to scale as the wireless deployment grows, the highly affordable WLC200 enables seamless and secure deployment of enterprise wireless networks over any L2/L3 network, without disruption.

As with other WLC Series controllers, the WLC200 offers intelligent switching that combines centralized and distributed data forwarding. It supports demanding wireless applications, such as voice and video over WLAN, for thousands of users at indoor or outdoor locations. The WLC200 may offload policy enforcement, deep packet inspection, and data forwarding, to WLA Series wireless access points for optimized traffic flow, reduced latency, and scalability.

The WLC200 is ideal for low density deployments where maximizing coverage at the lowest total cost is the primary objective. The WLC200 can support any mix of 802.11 a/b/g and 802.11n access points, up to a maximum of 192 access points. However, if the total number of APs exceeds 128, or if the number of 802.11n access points is greater than the number of 802.11 a/b/g APs, distributed forwarding is recommended for best performance and scalability.

Seamless Mobility:

Up to 64 WLC Series Wireless LAN Controllers of any size may be grouped together to form a single Mobility Domain that shares user session information between member controllers, allowing users to roam seamlessly from access point to access point, indoors and outdoors, and across different controllers within a given Mobility Domain, without needing re-authentication.

Nonstop Wireless Availability:

The WLC200 can also participate as a member of a Virtual Controller Cluster, comprising up to 32 WLC Series Wireless LAN Controllers of any size. Juniper Networks' unique Virtual Controller Cluster provides many-to-many resiliency for each controller simultaneously in service without needing hot-standby controllers, enabling nonstop wireless availability with hitless failover for all sessions including voice. This feature also allows in-service upgrades, adds, moves, and changes with zero downtime.
