Dynamic Application Awareness

• Reduces operations costs associated with appliance proliferation: Combines application control and policy management functions on a subscriber aware routing platform, eliminating the expense and complexity associated with deploying application-specific appliances at carrier scale.
• Permits incremental service expansion by hosting Dynamic Application Awareness on dedicated services engines—the MS-DPC for the MX 3D Universal Edge Routers and the MS-PIC for the M120 and M320 Multiservice Edge Routers.
• Ensures carrier scale: At session creation, a fully integrated router resident policy manager decides the appropriate network treatment of all applications based on provider defined criteria, and automatically configures forwarding plane resources to conform the session or flow to the policy. This approach ensures the efficient provisioning of high-value, customized services.
• Improves operations environment. The application-layer statistics collected by Dynamic Application Awareness can be exported to reporting tools to enhance many operational tasks, such as route and capacity planning activities, and to verify adherence to service-level agreements. The analysis of application behavior and traffic patterns also permits service providers to align infrastructure investments with application requirements.
• Increases service potential: Allows service providers to design highly differentiated services based on actual subscriber, application, and network behavior, for residential and business customers.

System Requirements

• Supported on the Multiservices PIC (MS-400 and MS-500) for the M120 and M320 Multiservice Edge Router.
• Runs on MS-DPC for the MX240, MX480, and MX960.
