ComSuper Selects Juniper Networks as Preferred Network Supplier
Juniper Prepares Australia's Government Superannuation Agency for the Future
AUSTRALIA, October 27, 2009 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that the Australian Government's superannuation administrator, ComSuper, is implementing a completely new network infrastructure based on Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches and Juniper Networks Unified Access Control (UAC) solution. The overhaul provides ComSuper with a scalable, virtualised, VoIP-enabled network with embedded security.
The network infrastructure upgrade is the first stage in a comprehensive IT rollout for ComSuper that includes a new PABX and telecommunications system, storage area network and range of desktop solutions. As part of the core and edge network infrastructure upgrade, ComSuper will deploy Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches and Juniper Networks UAC, which will provide comprehensive control, visibility and monitoring of network access while guarding mission-critical applications and sensitive data.

ComSuper manages superannuation funds for almost 700,000 public sector superannuation members, including members of the Australian Defence Force. As such, its data is highly sensitive. To comply with superannuation legislation, the organisation required a solution that enabled rapid, secure access to sensitive data.

Each of the EX4200 Ethernet switches deployed at ComSuper deliver wire-speed performance on all ports. By leveraging Juniper's Virtual Chassis technology, up to 10 EX4200 switches can be interconnected and managed as a single, logical device, delivering the scalability and manageability of traditional chassis-based systems in a cost–effective, compact platform.
UAC granularly and dynamically controls network and application access based on user identity, device security state and network location information. UAC applies access policy at Layer 2 using the EX Series switches as policy enforcement points. The tight integration of UAC and the EX Series switches not only provides ComSuper with increased security benefits at the network layer, but also enables secure, consistent, identity-based access control to be deployed across the organisation.
The application control features of the EX Series switches support eight QoS queues per port, ensuring proper prioritization of control plane, voice, video and multiple levels of data traffic, with room to converge other networks. At the same time, the architecture of the switches reduce cost and complexity through unified management and automation tools which consolidate system monitoring and maintenance, saving ComSuper time and money.
