Juniper Networks Selected for 12-State Purchase Contract by Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC)

MHEC Listing Speeds Delivery of Juniper Solutions to Universities, K-12 Districts, City and County Governments throughout Midwestern U.S.

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 4, 2009 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC), one of four U.S. interstate compacts created to advance higher education through increased student access, research and policy analysis, and reduced administrative costs, has selected Juniper solutions for inclusion in the MHEC purchase order program. Through the MHEC contract, Juniper solutions in core routing, switching, and security will be available at rates discounted for higher education institutions, K-12 districts and schools, education-related non-profit organizations, cities, counties, local subdivisions, and state governments within MHEC's 12-state membership.

"The University of Nebraska is very excited about the partnership between MHEC and Juniper Networks," said Heath Hollenbeck, network engineer for the University of Nebraska. "This contract will allow University of Nebraska entities to procure solutions from Juniper Networks at a significant discount, and much more quickly than if each organization had to conduct its own proposal and evaluation process. This saves the University and its partners significant amounts of time and money."

The agreement is a result of an evaluation process conducted by the MHEC Network Hardware Committee, of which Hollenbeck is a member.

"The resource-sharing purchase contracts offered by MHEC allow its members to streamline the procurement process for networking and security solutions, while substantially reducing their cost," said Phil O'Reilly, Juniper Networks senior vice president, U.S. Enterprise Sales. "We are happy to extend our solutions to these communities so that our nation's higher-education institutions enjoy the benefits of high-performance, secure networking in their research, education, and constituent service programs."

The MHEC contract offers discounts off of Juniper's global price list for individual or aggregate purchase of products or services as well as maintenance.

"We rely heavily on campus experts to guide MHEC programs and services so that we can continually generate savings for our constituents," explained MHEC President Larry Isaak. "MHEC is pleased to be working with Juniper Networks, and we're happy to offer our members affordable access to Juniper's industry-leading networking solutions."
