Reliance Globalcom and Juniper Networks Scale Metro Area Network
Companies Extend MPLS and VPLS Services to the Edge and Enable Higher-Capacity Services, Improved Scalability, Security and Reliability
SAN FRANCISCO - July 28, 2008 -- Reliance Globalcom and Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Reliance Globalcom is upgrading its metro network in the U.S. with Juniper's high-performance MX-series Ethernet Services Routers and M120 Multiservice Edge Routers to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and beyond in major metropolitan areas. The upgrade extends Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) to the network edge, improving network performance and ensuring scalability to address forthcoming demands for additional capacity.
Juniper Networks' high-performance network infrastructure has been a key part of the Reliance Globalcom core network in all international PoP's. Reliance Globalcom is now integrating the new Juniper equipment into its Juniper-based global Ethernet VPLS platform. With this deployment, Reliance Globalcom will gain a service-enabling network infrastructure that is capable of scaling to support VoIP, high-definition video conferencing, backup and recovery, electronic trading and other multi-media business applications. The new network also ensures carrier-class service reliability, which is essential to enterprise and financial services customers.

Reliance Globalcom is deploying the Juniper Networks MX-series Ethernet Services Routers with its Managed Metro Ethernet service to seamlessly link multiple enterprise LANs within a single metro over Ethernet-based metropolitan fiber networks. The MX-series delivers up to 960 Gbps of switching and routing capacity to Reliance Globalcom's network. Customers will benefit from the optimum combination of scale, density, and support for advanced applications such as video over point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint configurations. In addition, Reliance Globalcom customers will be able to increase the energy efficiency of their networks, and reduce power, space and cooling costs by leveraging the MX-series' support of high-density Ethernet interfaces in a range of efficient, compact form-factors.
The upgrade to the Juniper Networks MX-series offers Reliance Globalcom customers a reliable and cost-effective service configuration that will allow for migration to 40 Gigabit to further enhance carrier-grade performance. Because both the MX-series and the M120 leverage the proven JUNOS® software, Reliance Globalcom will benefit from the operational efficiency and management simplicity of using a single operating system in multiple portions of its network.
