Telefonica Selects Juniper Networks for Next-generation Core Network in Brazil

T-series Enables Telefonica to Meet Growing Demand for Residential and Corporate Services

SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 14, 2007 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that Telefonica has upgraded its next-generation core IP network in Brazil by deploying Juniper Networks T-series core routing platforms. As a leading service provider in Brazil, Telefonica is constantly pursuing new ways to increase the benefits it delivers to its clients, and by deploying Juniper's T-series at the core, Telefonica has enhanced its network's capabilities. Juniper's routers will help Telefonica meet its aggressive business objectives by providing the infrastructure to support one of the leading high-performance networks in Latin America.

With one of the largest IP backbones in South America, Telefonica is preparing to meet dynamic subscriber and traffic growth. The T-series, as a central component of Telefonica's Brazil network, provides additional capacity required to support data for Internet access, corporate VPNs and MPLS.

The Juniper Networks T-series is the industry's most proven core routing platform with over 2,500 units deployed in over 125 customer networks worldwide. The T640 routers can be seamlessly upgraded to multi-terabit capacity with either the multi-chassis TX Matrix or the new T1600, enabling customers to select the upgrade path optimized to their specific requirements. With this non-disruptive upgrade strategy that leverages the proven, feature-rich JUNOS software, the T-series can provide unmatched investment protection, lower total cost of ownership, and the ability to flexibly adapt to changing market requirements.

"In an increasingly competitive market, the T-series provides Telefonica with a future proof platform for delivering value added services through high-speed interfaces without compromising performance and security," said Tim Lambie, vice president, Americas International, Juniper Networks. "Juniper's T-series enables Telefonica to transform their business models and move from offering a commoditized service to one that is easily differentiated from even their strongest competitors."
