Juniper's Unified Threat Management Solution Secures the Network without Compromising Performance

SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 1, 2007 -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that O'Neill, one of the world's leading youth lifestyle and surfing brands, is deploying Juniper Networks Secure Services Gateway (SSG) security platforms and Juniper Networks NetScreen Security-Manager (NSM) to secure its growing network of retail branch offices across Europe. With Juniper's security solutions, O'Neill is able to securely deliver business critical applications across their networks and help ensure that information technology initiatives deliver business value. The company, with its European headquarters in the Netherlands, is focusing the initial rollout of the new security infrastructure across Europe, and will gradually bring other sales regions online to create a global high-performance branch network infrastructure.

With numerous retail outlets worldwide and plans for continued expansion, O'Neill wanted to build a branch infrastructure that could support its business objectives by securing applications and communications without impeding the network's speed and scalability. Following rigorous competitive trials, O'Neill selected the Juniper Networks SSG family of purpose-built security platforms to create a high-performance infrastructure that scales from its European headquarters out to individual retail branch locations. In addition to performing stateful firewall and VPN functions, the SSG security platforms protect inbound traffic flows from worms, spyware, Trojans, and malware with a comprehensive set of optional Unified Threat Management features that include intrusion prevention, antivirus, Anti-Spam, and Web Filtering functionality.

O'Neill has deployed the Juniper Networks SSG 550 security platform in the network core at its European headquarters to create a secure branch environment within its infrastructure. O'Neill has also deployed the Juniper Networks SSG 140 platform in its distribution offices for standalone network protection and the Juniper Networks SSG 5 and SSG 20 platforms in its retail stores to provide scalable secure access to business critical applications, email, an FTP server and its Web portal. It is the first time O'Neill has been able to deploy a redundant, always-on high-performance security solution, as the cost of providing this level of security was prohibitive with its previous firewall deployment.

O'Neill's firewall/IPSec VPN environment is managed by the Juniper Networks NSM, which delivers granular control over its firewall/VPN infrastructure, including configuration, network settings, and security policies. NSM also enables differentiated levels of management access to the security deployment, dependent upon location, role and expertise.
