Juniper Networks Founder and CTO, Pradeep Sindhu Named Leader in Technology at Inaugural CNBC Technology Leadership Awards Event
SUNNYVALE, Calif., November 18th, 2005 Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that vice chairman, chief technical officer and founder, Pradeep Sindhu, has been named Leader in Technology at the inaugural CNBC Technology Leadership Awards gala held in San Francisco earlier this week. Sindhu was chosen by an industry panel of judges for his contributions to the telecommunications industry over the course of the last two decades.
Sindhu was awarded in large part for his role in introducing the Infranet Initiative, a new model for a secure and reliable network of the future. The idea achieved industry-wide support from a broad spectrum of telecom carriers and IT companies.
Before founding Juniper Networks, Sindhu was at the Computer Science Lab at Xerox PARC, where he worked on design tools for VLSI and high-speed interconnects for shared-memory multiprocessors. This work led to the commercial development of Sun Microsystems' first high-performance multiprocessor system family which included the SS1000 and SS2000. Sindhu played key roles in the architecture, design, and development of these machines. Sindhu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie-Mellon University.

CNBC invited all Fortune 1000 companies to nominate their head of information technology for one of the award categories. An internal committee at CNBC reviewed all the submissions and narrowed down the field to the top contenders in each category -- leader in technology, finance, manufacturing and overall technology. CNBC then prepared dossiers on each finalist, which were provided to our esteemed judges: Dr. James Cash, Director, Consulting Services, The Cash Concours Group; Esther Dyson, Editor, Release 1.0, CNET Networks; John Hagel, Management Consultant & Author; and Dr. Shirley Jackson, President, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. They deliberated over our impressive group of nominees and chose this year's four winners.
