Juniper Networks Ships Firewall/VPN with Intrusion Prevention to Secure and Assure Enterprise Networks
ISG 1000 with IDP Integrates Best-in-Class Security for Comprehensive Delivery and Threat Control
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 10, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced the availability of integrated intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) functionality on the ISG 1000 firewall/VPN appliance. Delivering on the Enterprise Infranet framework, Juniper Networks' new ISG 1000 with IDP complements the ISG 2000, offering medium and large enterprise customers a range of platforms that provide increased levels of delivery and threat control. The appliance provides strong access control, secure communications, and network and application-level security while lowering the total cost of ownership for deploying best-in-class firewall, virtual private networking (VPN) and intrusion prevention services.

The ISG 1000 with IDP is the newest member of the ISG Series to tightly integrate full IDP software with the underlying ISG operating system, ScreenOS. The ISG 1000 uses up to two security modules, each with their own processing and memory, to deliver up to 1Gbps Firewall/VPN and IDP throughput. This provides medium and large enterprises high-performance access control and protection from spyware, worms, Trojans and emerging threats. The appliance utilizes industry-leading firewall/IPSec VPN functionality to control user access and site-to-site communications, and IDP security modules to achieve additive application-level protection.
The ISG 1000 with IDP takes full advantage of Juniper's proven ScreenOS networking features, such as dynamic routing, including OSPF, BGP, and RIP and NAT/Route/Transparent deployment options. Seamless integration with the firewall/VPN operating system also means that virtualized IDP attack protection can be deployed across virtual systems and security zones to stop attacks from penetrating or proliferating throughout the network. Role based administration within the product allows a security team to delegate management authority to appropriate personnel, allowing one team to manage only the IDP component while others can manage firewall, VPN and other tasks.

The Juniper Networks ISG 1000 with IDP is available today from Juniper Networks and its global network of reseller partners. Current ISG 1000 customers can purchase an upgrade kit and IDP security modules to add the IDP functionality to an existing ISG 1000.
