Singapore University Deploys Juniper Networks SSL VPN Solution to Improve Efficiency of eLearning System
Secure Access 1000 Enables Nanyang Technological University to Remotely Configure eLearning Servers
SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 3, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that Singapore's Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has deployed the Juniper Networks Secure Access 1000 SSL VPN appliance to enable its IT staff to remotely manage 85 eLearning servers in the University's eLearning Operations Center (EOC). By provisioning SSL VPN-based secure remote connections to the servers, NTU eliminates the need for its IT staff to be in the physical proximity of the server farm, greatly reducing the amount of time and expense needed for server maintenance.

"Instead of working on the server console in the data center, staff members now have the option to work remotely, saving us time and money, and improving the quality of our eLearning service for our students and professors."
The Juniper Networks Secure Access 1000 SSL VPN makes it possible for small-to-medium-sized organizations to deploy cost-effective secure access, extranet, and intranet security. The use of SSL eliminates the need for client-software deployment and costly ongoing maintenance or changes to internal servers. The Secure Access 1000 appliance also offers sophisticated partner or customer extranet features that enable controlled access to differentiated users and groups, with no infrastructure changes, no DMZ deployments, and no software agents. This functionality allows organizations secure access to the corporate intranet, so that administrators can restrict access to different students, employees or contractors, based on the resources they require.
The university's EOC consists of 85 eLearning servers running Solaris, Linux, Windows and Macintosh operating systems with a 17TB storage infrastructure on high bandwidth Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. Using the Secure Access SSL VPN appliance, the staff will be able to securely access the servers using only an Internet connection and a Web-enabled device, such as a laptop, home PC or Internet kiosk.
