Juniper Networks ISG 1000 Wins 'Editor's Choice' Award from Australian Technology and Business Magazine

Wins For Power, Configurability and Ease of Management In Competitive Product Review

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 24, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced its ISG 1000 firewall/VPN has won an 'Editor's Choice' award from the Australian Technology & Business magazine. The ISG 1000 won the 'large enterprise' category that included eight other firewall/VPN competitors.

In the August 2005 issue, Technology & Business reviewed and compared nine firewall appliances, testing them for reliability, redundancy, performance, future proofing, dependability, and ease of management. The magazine concluded that "there is little that [the Juniper ISG 1000] is not capable of. In most Australian corporate networks, it would be hard to find the ISG 1000 causing any bottlenecks."

The reviewer especially liked its configurability, with one dedicated management Ethernet port located alongside four configurable Ethernet ports, and the ISG 1000's ease of management, whose policy control for the monitoring and reporting systems is "almost as comprehensive as the device's other capabilities".

"Juniper Networks was identified as the very best provider of firewall and VPN products for large enterprises based on independent evaluation by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) IT Test Labs," said Natalie Hambly, editor, Technology and Business magazine.

It was the first choice for large enterprises because of its "physical configurability and redundancy options and relative ease of management, given what is such a complex and powerful device," said Matt Tett, senior test engineer RMIT IT Test Labs, in the review.

The Juniper ISG 1000 is a purpose-built, security solution that leverages a fourth generation security ASIC, the GigaScreen3, along with high speed microprocessors to deliver unmatched firewall and VPN performance. Optional security modules with dedicated processors, running the same Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) software that is used in the standalone IDP solution, will be available later this year. The ISG 1000 is ideally suited for securing enterprise, carrier and data center environments where advanced applications, such as VoIP and streaming media, dictate consistent, scalable performance.
