United States Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration Selects Juniper Networks to Secure Remote User Access

Juniper Networks Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN) Enables the Mine Safety and Health Administration to Provide an Assured Solution That Meets FIPS Requirements

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 18, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced the deployment of its Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) compliant Secure Access 3000 SSL VPN solution within the United States Department of Labor's Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). The SSL VPN appliance will help MSHA enhance access capabilities for remote users while reducing management costs and improving security.

MSHA required a secure remote access solution that is compliant with FIPS. The Juniper Networks SSL VPN provides stringent security to address federal requirements while eliminating the need for client-software deployment, changes to internal servers, as well as costly ongoing maintenance and desktop support.

The Juniper Networks SSL VPN provides clientless access and installs behind the agency firewall to enable employees to establish a secure connection from virtually any Web browser.

Due to the flexibility that the SSL VPN solution offers MSHA employees, the agency's network managers have already scaled back the amount of time they spend providing remote access support. Juniper Networks supported the SSL VPN implementation, providing on-site training to MSHA's technical administrators and assisting with security network design.
