Juniper Networks Delivers Enhanced SSL VPN to Serve as Single Access Platform for Extended Enterprise
Supports Enterprise Infranet With Advanced Delivery, Use And Threat Control
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 6, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced major enhancements to its Secure Access and Remote Access SSL VPN appliances, with a new version of the Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) 5.0 software. In addition to delivering the next generation of Network Connect and advanced endpoint remediation capabilities, the new software offers dynamic XML re-writing and a Java Applet Delivery Infrastructure. The enhanced SSL VPN solution supports the Enterprise Infranet framework by delivering a single access platform that uniquely offers best-in-class delivery, use, and threat control for the extended enterprise.

Offering support for the most demanding network applications, the enhanced SSL VPN software introduces the next generation of Network Connect, which enables the industry's first network-layer access solution to feature adaptive dual transport modes. Network Connect is delivered as a downloadable agent, which eliminates the need for IT to install, configure and manage client software on the user's PC. The agent utilizes one of two transport modes, including IPsec mode for high performance and SSL mode for high availability, which ensures optimized performance as well as reliable, always-on connectivity. The Network Connect agent dynamically adapts to any connection environment without any end user intervention, ensuring seamless and ubiquitous network connectivity.

Juniper Networks continues to raise the bar with innovative access methods and security controls. The SSL VPN software has been enhanced to support dynamic XML re-writing, providing secure access to a growing number of custom and packaged applications with XML content. The application layer access has also been augmented with a Java Applet Delivery Infrastructure that enables customers to serve applications from the SSL VPN and control access to those applications using Juniper Networks' dynamic access privilege management.
The new Juniper Networks IVE 5.0 software also delivers additional security to its Secure Access and Remote Access appliances via the industry leading Juniper Endpoint Defense Initiative (J.E.D.I.). New policy specific remediation capabilities enable administrators to associate required remedial actions with individual security policies, allowing for simplified administration of threat control. The J.E.D.I. APIs have also been enhanced to facilitate third-party client-server communication and further leverage external vendor security compliance solutions for security policy enforcement.
Availability
The Secure Access and Remote Access SSL VPN appliances with the new IVE 5.0 software are available now. The upgrade is free of charge for existing Juniper Networks customers under the service contract.
