Juniper Networks SSL VPN Passes Stringent Security Evaluations
iSEC Partners And Cybertrust Provide Independent Security Validations Of The Secure Access Solutions
SUNNYVALE, Calif., April 18, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that its latest Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL VPN) products have passed stringent security audit evaluations by two leading security organizations, Information Security Partners, LLC (iSEC Partners) and Cybertrust®, Inc. Juniper Networks continues to be the only SSL VPN provider to have completed multiple, independent security audits - supporting its goal to deliver secure and assured networking solutions to customers worldwide.
The Juniper Networks Secure Access product line completed two rigorous tests to evaluate the overall system security. In each evaluation by iSEC Partners and Cybertrust, the latest Secure Access products were found to contain protective mechanisms and features that provide effective secure access and combat unauthorized access into the network.

The Cybertrust evaluation consisted of an extensive Application Security Review (ASR), which delivers an in-depth application security assessment specifically designed to assess purpose-built applications and their supporting environments. Continuing a relationship that has been on-going for nearly four years, Cybertrust analyzed the security posture of the Juniper Secure Access system, as well as Juniper Networks' development processes and procedures, and the Secure Access appliance's architecture and source code. Based on the data collected from Juniper Networks and data from independent testing of the Secure Access appliance against the Cybertrust ASR standard, the Cybertrust Statement of Opinion reported that the security posture of the Secure Access SSL VPN continues to be very effective in securing remote, extranet and intranet access.
iSEC Partners tested the specific system and application hardening features of the Secure Access SSL VPN platform and hardware through system penetration tests, specific threat scenarios, and specifically targeted attacks. This targeted, hands-on testing further validates the Secure Access appliance's posture in several areas of security. According to iSEC Partners' Independent Security Report (iSR), the Secure Access appliance exceeded industry standards for the overall security of the device, as well as significantly exceeded standards for authentication, authorization and auditing (AAA).
