Juniper Networks and Exent Technologies Announce Enhanced Broadband Solution for Delivery of Games

BETHESDA, Md and SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 28, 2005 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) and Exent Technologies have teamed up to deliver an integrated service infrastructure that enables broadband service providers (BSPs) to offer premium high-speed games delivery. The combined solution provides dynamic, application-driven service quality upgrades to generate compelling experiences for BSP game subscribers with an efficient, intelligent allocation of network resources.

The Exent and Juniper Networks content delivery platform enables BSPs to offer superior service for a wide library of games, especially large, rich media game titles, actualized in real-time. This allows more bandwidth to be allocated during initial game streaming to reduce the time required to begin playing. When the initial caching is complete, the bandwidth is released for other high-traffic needs on the network, while at the same time ensuring low levels of latency required for lag-free online gaming.

"By teaming with Juniper Networks, we can now offer BSPs a way to ensure their subscribers get new levels of service quality," said Zvi Levgoren, CEO, Exent. "It's a way for our BSP partners to go beyond differentiating themselves simply on speed and cost. A guaranteed quality broadband gaming experience will ensure long term customer loyalty."

The joint solution, enhancing Exent's existing technology, features integration with the Juniper Networks' SDX Service Deployment System. The SDX offers a suite of service creation and management tools such as third-party application interfaces, network-wide admission control, dynamic policy generation, and accounting information. The SDX can provision network resources in real time, based upon specific applications and subscriber profiles, over a wide range of broadband technologies. It allows for the on-demand provisioning of key service parameters such as quality of service (QoS) and bandwidth allocation. The new solution provides BSPs with a robust, flexible level of control and efficiency, improving the end user's experience.

"Our aim is to transform best effort services into a more assured user experience," said Tony Scarfo, vice president of partner management, Juniper Networks. "Exent has already developed a high quality games-on-demand service that increases revenue and reduces customer churn for BSPs. We're working with Exent to further improve that service by giving BSPs new levels of on-demand service quality and assurance."

Exent is the market leader in delivering games-on-demand services. Such services allow BSPs to attract and retain more broadband subscribers, while garnering added revenue. Exent-enabled service providers have reported that Games-on-Demand customers are 75 percent less likely to churn from their access services than regular customers.

Exent games-on-demand services allow users to enjoy full-versioned games without the need to fully download them to their machines. The application streaming technology allows users to enjoy quick time-to-play and enjoy an enhanced user interaction, 'consolifying' the gaming experience.

Juniper Networks and Exent Technologies will demonstrate this new integrated solution at GameNET at the NCTA 2005 National Show in San Francisco, April 3rd through the 5th.
