Juniper Networks to Provide Support for New IP Services from Red Electrica Telecomunicaciones

Proven E-series Routing Platform Enhances Spanish Provider's Multi-Service Network Edge

SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 16, 2005 Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Red Electrica Telecomunicaciones (RET), a data solutions and broadband services provider in Spain, operating under the brand name Albura, has deployed the E-series edge routing platform in its broadband networks. The solution is designed to extend the wholesale xDSL (Digital Subscriber Line) broadband services RET offers to Spanish service providers. RET has deployed the Juniper Networks solution working closely with local integration partner, Telindus.

"Our company is experiencing significant growth and demand for different ADSL services," said Jesus Sanchez Rios, general business manager, RET. "This market transformation has persuaded us to replace our existing access routers with a robust, multi-service platform to handle current service levels that would easily scale to meet future demand. Following rigorous trials, Juniper Networks was chosen for its proven technology that offers both stability and flexibility in a modular design that provides the future-proof scalability that we require."

Juniper Networks ERX-1440 edge routing platforms are being deployed in RET's metropolitan Points of Presence (PoPs). Each platform is capable of processing up to 48,000 simultaneous broadband subscribers, aggregated from the numerous service providers using RET's wholesale infrastructure. The Juniper Networks ERX-710 platform is also deployed for proof-of-concept modeling, as more new services are developed and brought to market by RET.

"This win is testament to our leading edge routing technology, coupled with the strength of our local partner's ability to provide best-in-class technical implementation and support, proving successful in a very competitive environment," commented Eddie Minshull, vice president of sales in EMEA for Juniper Networks.
