Kagoor Introduces New Session Border Control Functionality for Tier 1 Carrier Converged VoIP Networks

Voiceflow's On+Off the Path capability provides unique One-Stop architecture and security solution

SAN MATEO, CA - March 7, 2005 – Kagoor Networks announced today that it is now providing Tier 1 carriers and other large VoIP service providers with new, unique session border control functionality for architecting next generation, converged networks. Kagoor’s unique On+Off the Path ™ functionality allows them to place Kagoor’s session border controllers within their chosen network design, rather than having to make material network changes to incorporate the session border controller.

In an On the Path configuration, where a carrier has converged voice and data, VoiceFlow now supports Data NAT functionality (including header NAT, source NAT, HTTP, HTTPS, TFTP and FTP support). Here, VoiceFlow processes management and data traffic from VoIP endpoints (e.g., configuration data) without the need for additional devices.

The Off the Path configuration is excellent for carriers and service providers that have an existing network in place with segregated voice traffic, and want to introduce added border control functionality and security for VoIP in a non-intrusive manner.VoiceFlow’s ability to handle both configurations gives carriers and large service providers maximum flexibility in their network engineering, less disruption to the existing network, and faster time to market with new services and applications. This gives them an important advantage that can separate them from ever-increasing competition.

This new functionality makes VoiceFlow a one-stop security solution for the converged networks typically deployed by Tier 1 carriers and large service providers. With the ability to accommodate both On+Off the Path topologies, complete with VoIP and data NAT functionality, VoiceFlow accommodates all security paradigms: replacing or adding to a legacy firewall, with or without a “DMZ”, for converged or segregated VoIP and data traffic.

“These capabilities were developed as part of our work with Tier 1 customers,” says Itzik Parnafes, co-founder and vice president, products of Kagoor Networks. “These carriers want a session border controller to easily and flexibly be added and integrated to their IP network designs, rather than having to rework the network to fit the session border controller.”

The On+Off the Path functionality is another key advantage introduced by Kagoor to service the needs of Tier 1 carriers migrating to IP. Kagoor is also the only vendor to provide carriers with a 3-way architecture for superior application performance and integrated as well as split signaling and media for optimum flexibility and configuration. Kagoor’s VoiceFlow 4000 is the most powerful and efficient SBC available providing over 100,000 concurrent calls in a compact 4u chassis. VoiceFlow is the leading solution for hosted NAT traversal, hosted VPN/VLAN address translation, and network protection for hosted IP telephony services like IP Centrex and managed IP PBX.
