Juniper Networks Enhances SSL VPN Offerings
New Version of Instant Virtual Extranet Delivers Korean and Spanish Localization, Further Enhances SSL VPN Deployment and Management Capabilities
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 13, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced the updated release of its Secure Access and Remote Access product families of SSL VPNs, built upon the latest version of the Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE), which now include extended localization support to include Korean and Spanish languages, increased ease of deployment, extended delivery of secure access, and enhanced management and support.
Localization for Korea and Spanish-speaking regions allows Juniper Networks to further serve its international secure sockets layer (SSL) virtual private network (VPN) customers, while enabling them to better serve their global users.

Juniper Networks continues to expand internationally and realize growing global adoption of its products. For example, the company has seen Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (APAC) revenue grow by 42 percent over the past two quarters, since Juniper Networks acquired NetScreen Technologies, including NetScreen's SSL VPN products.
Korean users of the Juniper Networks SSL VPN include Hanjin Heavy Industries, DongBu-Anam Semiconductor, and M2M Korea. SSL VPN customers in Spanish-speaking regions include Metlife Mexico, Grupo Gigante, Cementos Cruz Azul, and Servicios Panamericanos de Proteccion.
"The Juniper Networks SSL VPN solution has proven itself both in terms of security and day-by-day usability," said K.K. Lee, Senior Researcher of KT's (formerly Korea Telecom) R&D Center. "These are both baseline requirements for a unit that constantly deals with valuable and highly sensitive information, such as ours. The new OS with a Korean interface will heighten the solution's ease of use even further for us."
According to the latest market share and forecast report by Infonetics Research, Inc., these international markets represent emerging growth opportunities for the SSL VPN market. According to the report by Infonetics Research, industry-wide SSL VPN revenue growth rates in the EMEA, APAC and Caribbean and Latin America (CALA) regions are anticipated to increase in CY'05 by 144 percent, 133 percent and 259 percent, respectively, over revenues in CY'04 1.
Juniper Networks already provides localized versions of its SSL VPN products in Japanese, German, French, and Chinese. It has supported double-byte enabled code for more than a year, enabling it to easily continue to extend its localized language support in the future.
In addition to Spanish and Korean localization, Juniper Networks' latest IVE release includes functionality for increased ease of deployment, extended delivery of secure access, and enhanced management and support. New functionality includes adaptive delivery of Secure Application Manager (SAM) and Network Connect (NC) access mode applets, as well as adaptive delivery of the Juniper Networks Endpoint Defense Initiative functionality. Adaptive delivery enables the deployment of secure access, as well pre-authentication client security policy checks, from diverse connection environments, including those where ActiveX has been disabled. This extends the ability of administrators to provision secure remote access from a broader array of connection environments, including remote kiosks and unmanaged devices.

The Juniper Networks NetScreen Secure Access SSL VPN appliances provide enterprise-class secure access to network resources for remote employees, customers and partners. The SSL VPN appliances enable encrypted and secure connections with detailed audit logs and time outs, and allow IT administrators to establish strict access controls, protecting network resources and customer data. The products include a variety of high-availability (HA) and redundancy capabilities for mission-critical enterprise environments. The products also provide enterprise-strength AAA (authentication, authorization, auditing), complete endpoint security controls, and a core security architecture that has been audited in depth by TruSecure and Cryptography Research, and certified by ICSA Labs.
The Juniper Networks Remote Access 500 (RA 500) is built to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with a secure, cost-effective and easy-to-deploy solution that enables remote employees to access corporate networks.
