Mizuno USA, Inc. Scores a Victory with Juniper Networks Network Security Solutions

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 6, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Mizuno USA, Inc., one of the largest general sporting goods manufacturers in the world, has deployed the Juniper Networks intrusion detection and prevention (IDP) system and secure sockets layer (SSL) VPN solution, and will deploy the integrated firewall/VPN devices, to protect the company's network infrastructure and securely connect remote sites and workers to the corporate network.

With its complex requirements, Mizuno USA, Inc., turned for help to EnterEdge Technology, a reseller that takes a holistic approach to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. By combining best-of-breed technology with security expertise, education and managed security services, EnterEdge helps organizations lower costs and improve efficiencies. After thorough research was conducted and presented by EnterEdge, Mizuno USA, Inc., selected Juniper Networks.

"Mizuno was looking for a solution that was expansive enough to fill multiple networking and security needs," said Bill Dawson, network manager, Mizuno USA, Inc., "No other vendor is able to offer us the breadth of products that Juniper does - all while simplifying our lives by having minimal interfaces for multiple types of products."

To replace its previous SNORT system, Mizuno USA, Inc., selected the Juniper Networks NetScreen-IDP 100 system, which provides up to 200 Mbps throughput and operates in-line to detect and drop malicious traffic in real-time before it reaches its victim. The Juniper Networks system has been deployed at the company's Norcross, Ga., headquarters to protect Mizuno USA, Inc.'s critical network resources and data traversing its highly distributed corporate network and four sub networks.

Mizuno USA, Inc., also deployed a Juniper Networks NetScreenSecure Access 1000 Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN appliance to provide secure VPN access to the corporate network for more than 90 remote sales people. Through any Internet-enabled computer with a standard Web browser, the Secure Access 1000 enables authorized Mizuno USA, Inc., employees to securely access native client applications on the Mizuno USA, Inc., network no matter where they are located.

Due to operational reliability and management overhead issues, Mizuno USA, Inc., replaced its previous software-based Check Point firewall solution with the Juniper Networks NetScreen-208 appliance, that offers up to 550 Mbps firewall and up to 200 Mbps IPSec VPN throughput. The NetScreen-208 will be located at corporate headquarters and provide secure and reliable firewall protection to the corporate network.
