Spain's Leading Web Hosting Company Selects Juniper Networks Routing and Security Solutions for High-Speed Infrastructure

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 13, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that ARSYS, Spain's leading web hosting company, is significantly upgrading its network infrastructure with routing and security solutions from Juniper Networks. The expansion, which includes a new data center to augment its existing Points of Presence (PoPs) in Madrid and London, is designed to facilitate ARSYS's growth and development strategy over the next six years, ensuring it remains at the forefront of demand for fast, secure Web hosting services.

ARSYS provides hosting services for a wide range of enterprises, including TV companies, political parties, hospitals, local administrations, online journals and online retailers, as well as personal sites for individuals. In total, the company hosts 110,000 domains for nearly 70,000 different customers, and has 20 percent market share in Spain. The company also offers Internet connectivity to many business customers.

ARSYS will deploy a pair of Juniper Networks T320 core routing platforms at its data centers in Madrid and Logroño respectively. These platforms will support ARSYS's high-speed STM-64 lines, ensuring that traffic is routed efficiently and reliably across the core network. The T320's rich functionality, such as the border gateway protocol (BGP) capabilities that can make ARSYS's network interface with over 130 different carriers trouble-free, was a factor in ARSYS's selection of the Juniper Networks products. The company also continues to use routing platforms from the Juniper Networks M-series portfolio that it originally deployed in 2002.

As part of its network evolution, ARSYS is also deploying two pairs of Juniper Networks NetScreen-5200 integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) systems to secure the new data center in Logroño, plus a pair of Juniper Networks NetScreen-500 firewall and VPN systems in its Madrid facility. Security is particularly important in the hosting marketplace, with customers choosing to entrust their public Websites and online trading facilities to hosting companies that have demonstrably effective protection measures in place. Speed is another key issue because high-performance firewalls, that can match the overall speed of the network and thus avoid data bottlenecks, improve the user's experience and speed of online transactions.

Manuel Amutio, chief technical officer for ARSYS, said: "This investment is one of the most significant in our company history. ARSYS is operating in a highly competitive market, so it is imperative that we are able to create services based on quality, speed, reliability and security. Juniper Networks' unified operating system, JUNOS, enables us to integrate the new routers with the old ones easily, and all the platforms offer a robust solution that will easily support our continued growth. Based on the excellent relationship we have already built with Juniper Networks, it made perfect sense to continue to work with them, and leverage their best-in-class security portfolio as well."

Eddie Minshull, vice-president of sales in EMEA, Juniper Networks, commented: "The flexibility offered by our platforms has proven to be very effective for ARSYS. Due to the blend of different customer profiles the company has established, traffic throughput on the routers and security devices varies between very large and very small packets. Both Juniper Networks' routing and security platforms enable even the smallest packets to be handled quickly and efficiently - exactly what a company like ARSYS needs."
