Navega.com Boosts Network Performance and Reliability with Juniper Networks

M-series Enables Navega.com to Improve the Interconnection with the NAP of the Americas

SUNNYVALE, Calif., September 1, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that Navega.com, one of the largest regional telecom, data and Internet service providers in Central America, has deployed the M-series routing platform to increase network performance, reliability and security. This project, designed jointly with the systems integrator and solutions provider, Solunet, leverages carrier-class IP transport in Guatemala and El Salvador to improve the interconnection with the NAP of the Americas located in Florida, the fifth Tier-1 Network Access Point in the world.

"The M-series has not only helped us to boost our network performance, but it also provides the security and scale required to efficiently support our international links from Central America to the NAP of the Americas," said Roberto Rodriguez, international services manager, Navega.com. "The M-series also supports our value-added service offerings, such as fiber optic links for multimedia, IP Wireless data, and IP/MPLS-based Giga-Ethernet connectivity now enhanced with quality of service capabilities."

According to Felipe Tribaldos, sales manager at Solunet, the M-series was chosen to improve and ensure infrastructure stability and scalability at the routing layer that had not been possible with the previous network supplier. "The M-series is designed to offer secure, scalable and highly reliable IP services in high-speed networks. Additionally, it reduces ramp-up time for new IP services and results in lower capital costs, increased operational support and a more efficient network implementation process."

"Navega.com's deployment of the M-series will help to establish the carrier's leadership in the highly competitive Central America telecommunications market," said Tim Lambie, vice president of sales, Americas International, Juniper Networks. "Navega.com's biggest challenges are to maintain network performance and reliability, while also accommodating the ever-growing demand for IP-based services. With the M-series platforms, Navega.com can deliver reliable revenue-generating services and position itself as one of the leaders in next-generation telecommunication services in Guatemala and throughout Central America."
