Juniper Networks Announces Juniper Federal Systems and Selects Industry Leaders for Inaugural Advisory Board

Board to Offer Expertise on Customer Support Strategies and National Cyber Security Initiatives

SUNNYVALE, Calif., December 9, 2003—Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced the formal launch of Juniper Federal Systems, established specifically to address the unique requirements of the government marketplace. Juniper Federal Systems will focus on delivering network solutions and IP routing systems to the Department of Defense (DoD), intelligence and civilian agencies.

"Since 1999, the federal government has represented an important and growing market for Juniper Networks," said Jim Dolce, executive vice president, worldwide field operations, Juniper Networks. "The launch of Juniper Federal Systems highlights the importance of the government marketplace and underscores our ongoing commitment to this unique customer."

To further support this effort, the Juniper Federal Systems Advisory Board has been established to work with the management team to plan for and develop secure, reliable information networks for federal defense and civilian agencies. The board will also support the implementation of the U.S. President's management agenda and national strategy to secure cyberspace through a government and industry partnership.

The advisory board members represent a mix of Pentagon, intelligence and civilian agency credentials, as well as IT industry leadership and corporate stewardship. The Advisory Board chairman is Richard Clarke, chairman of Good Harbor and an internationally recognized expert on homeland security, national security, cyber security and counter-terrorism cyber security. Other Board members include: General Mike Canavan (retired), vice president, Anteon, former commander of the U.S. Joint Special Forces Command and director of security for the Federal Aviation Administration; Lt. Gen. Don Kerrick (retired), vice president strategic development, General Dynamics, former deputy national security advisor and deputy director of the Defense Intelligence Agency; Dale Watson, principal, Booz Allen Hamilton, former associate director of the FBI and Lt. Gen. Ken Minihan (retired), principal, Paladin Capital Group, former director of the National Security Agency.

"Leveraging the brain trust and deep industry perspective of this newly formed advisory board, Juniper Federal Systems and the board will execute a strategy that encompasses the major integrator and contractor community in bringing optimal solutions to meet key IP networking initiatives within the federal government," said Dubhe Beinhorn, vice president, Juniper Federal Systems. "Juniper Federal Systems has a track record of performance with defense, intelligence and civilian agencies and a product suite designed to serve the IP bandwidth and security needs of the federal government. The additional support of the advisory board helps ensure our ability to grow the business and develop new industry alliances."
