Telekom Malaysia Selects Juniper Networks to Expand Nationwide Broadband IP Services

Market Leading, Scalable and Service-Rich E-series Platform Increases Capacity at TM Net

SUNNYVALE, Calif., October 8, 2003—Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) announced today that Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Malaysia's leading telecommunications provider, has selected Juniper Networks E-series platform for the expansion of its broadband network infrastructure. The E-series provides Telekom Malaysia's Internet Service Provider (ISP) subsidiary, TM Net Sdn. Bhd., with a market leading, service-rich broadband remote access platform to deliver reliable advanced Internet services for home and business users in Malaysia.

TM Net currently serves more than 1.9 million Internet subscribers. As the first ISP in Malaysia to offer broadband Internet services, it aims to offer cheaper, more efficient and user-friendly service for its customers. The end result is "tmnet streamyx," the high-speed broadband Internet access service targeted for residential, SOHO, SME and corporate market segments, which provides an "always on" connection to the Internet with connection speeds from 384Kb up to 2Mb/s.

Juniper Networks E-series platform deployed together with integration partner, Apex Multimedia Sdn Bhd., helps scale Telekom Malaysia's growing subscriber base to enable comprehensive broadband services with subscriber-based IP Quality of Service (QoS). The ASIC-based architecture of the E-series combines essential edge functionality, such as IP routing, subscriber management, and advanced IP services in a single platform. The wide range of interface options enables Telekom Malaysia to deliver new, advanced Internet services such as Hotspots, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), video-on-demand and online gaming. In response to increasing demand, Telekom Malaysia has expanded and will continue to expand its service coverage nationwide.

Telekom Malaysia's selection of the E-series is an endorsement of the Model for Integrated Network Transformation (MINT). By implementing this model Telekom Malaysia has optimized its network to deliver a rich set of IP services to users in a variety of market segments, while minimizing operational expenses.

"Juniper Networks maintains its commitment to helping service providers such as Telekom Malaysia deliver reliable and value-added IP services in order to sustain a competitive edge and grow their user base," said Brad Gray, vice president, Asia South Pacific, Juniper Networks. "The E-series, with its advanced service-rich capabilities and ASIC-enabled wire-speed performance, is well suited to Telekom Malaysia's requirements. We are excited to be selected by Telekom Malaysia and look forward to continuing the close relationship to make this expansion a success."

About The MINT

The Model for Integrated Network Transformation (MINT) outlines Juniper Networks vision for transforming the business of networking. The MINT enables companies to transition from a commodity transport business model to a more lucrative, value-added services model. The four-layer framework, which includes a Bit Transport and Connectivity Layer, Resource Segmentation Layer, Packet Processing Layer and a Policy and Control Layer, optimizes a company's capital cost structure and reduces operational costs, while also enabling significant new services to be deployed with an assured user experience.
