Juniper Networks Completes Interoperability Testing with Telcordia's Network Configuration Manager

E-series Platform Validates Compatibility with Telcordia Network Configuration Manager in Multi-Vendor Networks

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Apr. 14, 2003—Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) today announced that its E-series platform has completed the Telcordiaâ„¢ New Generation Systems (NGS) Adapter Strategy for the Telcordia Network Configuration Manager System. Similar to the OSMINE process, the NGS Adapter Strategy was created by Telcordia Technologies to help ensure products are compatible in multi-vendor networks prior to deployment in the incumbent service provider networks for the new generation of network elements.

Approximately 80 percent of established telecommunications infrastructures depend on Telcordia software platforms to help minimize the impact of OSS (Operations Support Systems) integration and to ensure flow-through service provisioning. This enables incumbent carriers to provide continued Operations, Administration, Maintenance, and Provisioning (OAM&P) of services to a large number of subscribers in a time-efficient manner while upgrading network and service infrastructure.

"The Telcordia NGS Adapter Strategy provides flow through automation, reducing operational costs for service providers utilizing Telcordia OSS," said Doug Fantuzzi, vice president/general manager, New Market OSS Product Management, Telcordia. "By completing this process, Juniper Networks is demonstrating its commitment to the RBOC market while minimizing the impact of its OSS integration into incumbent networks."

Juniper Networks E-series interoperates with the Telcordia Network Configuration Manager to enable network operators to efficiently communicate with network elements and easily activate network services. The E-series combines carrier-class routing, broadband subscriber management services, and IP services in a single platform, which enables providers to deploy high-speed Internet connections and revenue-generating IP services to both businesses and consumers.

"This milestone is significant to Juniper Networks and our customers since interoperability with Telcordia OSS is a requirement for the incumbent service providers," said Kevin Dillon, director of portfolio marketing, Juniper Networks. "In addition, Juniper will continue its ongoing commitment to the OSMINE and NGS programs with support for additional Juniper devices and Telcordia applications."

Available as part of the E-series solution is Juniper Networks NMC-RX Element Management System, a Java-based solution designed to function in an integrated OSS environment. The NMC-RX enables operators to quickly and easily provision the E-series product family including physical interfaces, protocols and services. The NMC-RX also enables service providers to support hundreds of thousands of subscribers from a single management system, greatly reducing the time and effort needed for labor-intensive configuration tasks.
