Websense Enterprise® Tested and Certified For Interoperability With NetScreen Security Solutions

Customers Benefit from High-Performance Network Security Solution Combined With Market Leading Web Filtering Solution

San Diego and Sunnyvale, CA - December 10, 2003—Websense, Inc. (Nasdaq: WBSN), the world’s leading provider of Web filtering solutions, according to Frost & Sullivan and IDC, and NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced that the patented capabilities of Websense Enterprise® v5 have been extensively tested and verified as interoperable with NetScreen’s integrated firewall and virtual private network (VPN) security solutions, ensuring effective functionality and scalability for joint customers.

NetScreen firewalls deployed with Websense Enterprise v5 can protect customer networks from internal and external Web content-related threats. In addition, the combined solution allows organizations to manage how employees use the Internet to improve workplace productivity and preserve network bandwidth by limiting access to time-wasting Web content.

“The combined NetScreen and Websense security solution enables a company to effectively control what Internet content should be allowed into the network,” said Janine Roth, vice president of business development for NetScreen. “NetScreen is committed to working with our alliance partners, including Websense, to deliver world-class security solutions that improve the integrity of our joint customers’ infrastructures while optimizing performance, reliability and scalability.”

“Since 1999, customers have trusted Websense Enterprise combined with firewall technology to provide enhanced network security, improved employee productivity and reduced legal liability,” said Kian Saneii, vice president of marketing and business development, for Websense Inc. “With our best-of-class Websense Enterprise v5 now available to NetScreen customers and tested for interoperability, our joint customers may now also benefit from Websense’s unique policy enforcement mechanisms to ensure highly effective employee policy management.”

The Websense® software interfaces real-time with a sophisticated database of more than 5 million Web sites, which is used to verify all Internet users’ requests based on the company’s acceptable use policy. The database classifies approximately 1.1 billion active Web pages. Organized into more than 80 categories in 52 languages and used in coordination with eight flexible policy options, Websense provides a granular approach to assessing and managing employee access to Web content.
