NetScreen Appoints New Vice President of Sales for Emerging Technologies
Sunnyvale, CA - October 15, 2003—NetScreen Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSCN) today announced it has appointed Dean Hickman-Smith to the new position of vice president of sales for emerging technologies. In this role, he will spearhead a special global sales task force established to drive adoption of NetScreen’s newest product and technology offerings, such as NetScreen’s Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) and antivirus products.
Hickman-Smith, who will report directly to NetScreen vice president of worldwide sales Mark Smith, has more than 14 years of international sales and management experience with several security and other technology companies. Before joining NetScreen, Hickman-Smith was vice president of worldwide sales at TopLayer Networks, a developer of intrusion prevention, intrusion detection, network security and authentication access systems.
Prior to that, he co-founded Congress Communications, a European sales accelerator firm for technology start-ups, including Inktomi, Arrowpoint, Ramp and Ipivot. Hickman-Smith has also held senior sales positions at INS Group and Spiro International Group where he worked with companies such as Cisco Systems, Bay Networks and 3Com.
