SingTel Selects Juniper Networks Routers for Nationwide Broadband Wholesale Services
Sunnyvale, CA - October 10, 2002 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructure for the New Public Network, today announced that Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has awarded Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICN) a contract for the supply, installation and maintenance of additional Juniper Networks ERX Edge Routers. This deployment will expand SingTel's broadband network and support the existing Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) connection services to its Internet Service Provider (ISP) customers.
The ERX router was chosen for its wire-speed performance, high scalability and reliability. Since thousands of connections can be supported in a single ERX chassis, SingTel now has the ability to conserve point-of-presence (PoP) space, while also supporting a larger number of wholesale subscribers for its broadband services. The virtual router capabilities in the ERX platform negate the need for each customer to have its own dedicated router, enabling SingTel to securely and more cost-effectively support a larger number of ISP partners.
