Lithuanian Telecom Selects Juniper Networks to Deliver Innovative IP Services with New Subscriber Management Capabilities

Siemens to Supply Integrated SDX-300 Service Deployment System and ERX Edge Router

Sunnyvale, CA - October 7, 2002 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network, today announced Lithuanian Telecom has deployed Juniper Networks ERX Edge Routers and its award-winning SDX-300 Service Deployment System as part of an agreement with Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICN). The ERX router and SDX-300 system will increase Lithuanian Telecom's network efficiency, and decrease capital and operational expenditures by enhancing its basic broadband connectivity offering with new and competitive IP services.

Lithuanian Telecom, the largest telecommunications service company in Lithuania, is now able to offer its business and residential subscribers a wide range of broadband services and solutions, such as tiered Internet and rich media services-on-demand. The ERX router provides wire-speed performance, sophisticated routing capabilities, and features leading-edge technologies such as IP Quality of Service. The SDX-300 system communicates with the ERX router to automatically provision the network and account for service usage on an individual subscriber basis once a service is activated. Since Juniper Networks products are built upon an ASIC-based architecture, Lithuanian Telecom can cost effectively deliver services that require high bandwidth, wire-speed performance and ensured quality of service.

"Juniper Networks has provided a solid platform to generate new service revenues, said Harri Suokko, director, Service Development Department, Lithuanian Telecom. "With the increased demand for new services, we constructed a next-generation network that ensures quality of service and supports growing scalability requirements. Juniper Networks products enable us to manage our network and subscriber services more efficiently and deliver new innovative services to our customers faster than before."

"The ability to offer high bandwidth transport and new IP services represents significant revenue opportunities for service providers around the world," said Eddie Minshull, vice president, Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) Sales, Juniper Networks, Inc. "By deploying Juniper Networks products, Lithuanian Telecom is in a solid position to increase its network efficiency and capitalize on the growing demand for new revenue-generating IP services."
