Juniper Networks Delivers T320 Router Enabling Comprehensive Deployment of T-series Technology

New 320 Gigabit Platform Delivers Rich, Dependable MPLS-based Services Enabling Greater Returns as Networks Scale

Sunnyvale, CA - July 30, 2002 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network, today announced the latest addition to the T-series routing family, the Juniper Networks T320 Router. The T320 router allows network service providers and carriers to realize the benefits of the T-series family on a platform right-sized for their immediate needs, while providing a straightforward, cost-effective path to dense 10 Gigabits per second (Gbps) interface capacities. T-series benefits include dependable delivery of rich services, the ability to scale bandwidth without service disruption, industry leading interface densities, and un-paralleled asset longevity.

"To complement our existing T640 implementation, we wanted a flexible platform that could deliver high densities in a smaller form factor while allowing for interface expansion to dense 10 Gigabits to meet our customers' evolving needs. The T320 met these criteria, while also providing highly efficient power consumption," commented Mitch Ferro, vice president, Product Management for Verio's Broadband Services business unit.

Leveraging Juniper Networks third generation of high-density silicon, the T320 router provides more than double the bandwidth density of alternative platforms, with increased power efficiency. The T320 router allows service providers and carriers to deploy ultra-dense OC-3 ATM, SONET/SDH aggregation to provide, for example, transport of Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), and Frame Relay (FR) customer traffic over MPLS. It also supports dense Gigabit Ethernet aggregation critical to Metro Ethernet and hosting applications. Supporting 16 OC-192c/STM-64 ports in a chassis occupying only one third of a rack, the T320 router also supports dense OC-48 and 10 Gigabit core applications.

The T320 router leverages the same proven JUNOS software that is common across all Juniper Networks M- and T-series platforms to ensure continuous and predictable service delivery, while minimizing capital and operational costs. This ensures network service providers migrating ATM and FR traffic to MPLS transport are able to do so smoothly and seamlessly without disruption to customer applications.

"The Juniper Networks T320 router performed perfectly in our network trial. We were particularly impressed with the density gains with the T320 router and found that every interface including 10 Gigabit Ethernet performed at line rate regardless of the features enabled," commented Sanggyu Jang, director, Technical Support Team, Korea Internet Data Center (KIDC). "The T320 router's interoperability with our existing network architecture was seamless and the operational efficiencies were impressive. We will certainly consider the Juniper Networks T-series routers for future network expansion.
