China Telecom Solidifies Edge with Juniper Networks
Two Provincial Chinese Branches Select Juniper Networks ERX Edge Routers
Sunnyvale, CA - July 9, 2002 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network and China Telecommunications Corporation (China Telecom) today announced the deployment of additional Juniper Networks ERX Edge Routers in two provincial branches of China Telecom's network. China Telecom, the operator of China's largest terrestrial communications network, selected the ERX for its wire-speed performance, sophisticated routing capabilities and ability to enhance standard broadband connectivity offerings with innovative IP services.
The Sichuan Branch of China Telecom required a scalable and reliable edge router to provide services across the industrial province, including the capital city of Chengdu with a population of 12 million. China Telecom also installed the ERX in Central China to support the growing base of broadband subscribers in the rapidly developing city of Wuhan, the capital of Hubei Province. In both deployments, the ERX provides circuit aggregation and subscriber management functionality, all in a single platform. The flexibility of the ERX enables China Telecom to create custom services based on the unique requirements of its customers.
