1&1 Internet Provides Access to Over 2 Million Web Sites with Juniper Networks Routers

M-series Internet Routers Provide Business Critical Reliability for Pan-European Web Hosting Services

Sunnyvale, CA - July 9, 2002 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of trusted infrastructures for the New Public Network, today announced that 1&1 Internet, a European Web hosting company, has deployed a pan-European network based on Juniper Networks M20 and M40 Internet Routers to provide reliable Web hosting services.

With more than 2 million customer domains hosted in its data center, 1&1 Internet is the largest Web hosting company in Europe. Over 4 billion Web pages are accessed through 1&1's data center every month. This amounts to more than 200 terabytes of Internet protocol traffic every month. 1&1's investment in Juniper Networks-based infrastructure will ensure that Internet users gain quicker access to all of the domains hosted by the company.

The European ring network connects 1&1's data center to the three largest Internet exchange points in Europe: AMS-IX in Amsterdam, DECIX in Frankfurt, and LINX in London. At each of these locations streams of data from dial-up providers are exchanged directly with 1&1. In addition to the link-ups with the Internet exchange points, 1&1 connects to large Internet service providers such as Infonet, Tiscali, MobilCom and Level3.

Juniper Networks European integration partner, Telindus, supplied the Juniper Networks routers and will also provide first line support.
