Callahan Group Company ISH Selects Juniper Networks M-series Routers for German Multiservice Cable Network
Ish to Offer Broadband and VoIP Services over Juniper Networks Platforms with a Potential Reach of Five Million Homes
Sunnyvale, CA - January 23, 2002 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure, today announced Callahan's ish subsidiary, the cable operator in the Northrhine-Westfalia area of Germany, has deployed Juniper Networks M-series routers to deliver advanced voice and data service offerings in multiple Points-of-Presence (PoPs).
ish currently connects 4.2 million households with cable television (TV) service out of 5 million homes that could benefit from the ish multi-service cable network in Northrhine-Westfalia. In addition, ish offers its subscribers advanced Internet voice services, such as voice over IP and always-on, scalable broadband Internet connectivity services via TV-cable. Customers benefit from lower telephony costs and flexible high-speed Internet offerings, including a flat-rate service option.

M5, M10 and M160 Internet routers are installed in six POPs in the Ruhrgebiet in Nordrhine-Westfalia, Germany's most densely populated area. The POPs are interconnected with OC-48/STM-16 circuits, with M5 and M10 routers acting as peering devices connecting to other service providers.
Deployment of the Juniper Networks routers in the ish network is part of a project led by Juniper Networks worldwide distribution partner Nortel. In this capacity, Nortel is responsible for the installation and maintenance of the network.
