Chunghwa Telecom—International Business Group to Deploy Juniper Networks M160 Routers for its Data Center
Juniper Networks Places Chunghwa Telecom—International Business Group at the Forefront of Asia Data Centers
Sunnyvale, CA - November 7, 2001 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure systems, and Chunghwa Telecom, the largest telecom operator in Taiwan, today announced that Chunghwa Telecom International has deployed Juniper Networks M160 Internet routers in its International Data Center (CHT-I D.C.).
To complement its existing network of Hinet and TWGate, Chunghwa Telecom International has built a new Data Center employing the Juniper Networks M-series routers, which enable a direct connection to other regional data centers. During the initial phase, CHT-I D.C. is looking at opportunities to collaborate with several top-tier regional International Data Centers (IDCs) for direct connections that it is set to roll out later. This will provide CHT-I D.C. Internet service provider clients with a peering or alternative direct path to access regional IDCs.
"As we expand to regional presence, Internet routers serve as an important interface for inbound and outbound IP traffic. Robust routers that deliver fast, scalable, and highly reliable interfaces without compromising performance and also allow freedom from denial-of-service attacks are amongst the most critical factors for the Chunghwa Telecom-International Data Center," said Nein Deng Hsu, director of International Data Communication Maintenance Center.

In addition to the Chunghwa Telecom International tender, Juniper Networks has already been awarded three other tenders with Chunghwa Telecom—Internet Data Center tenders from the central branch office and northern branch office, and the Internet backbone infrastructure tender from Chunghwa Telecom's long distance division.
