Genuity Selects Juniper Networks for Ultra High-speed Managed Internet Access Service

Juniper Networks Enables Scalable Smart IP Services for Genuity's Internet Advantage Customers

Sunnyvale, CA - September 11, 2001 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure systems, today announced that Genuity (Nasdaq: GENU) has selected Juniper Networks M160 Internet backbone routers to provide smart, scalable, dedicated access services for its Internet Advantage customers.

Leveraging the rate limiting features of Juniper Networks Internet Processor II ASIC, Genuity, the leading provider of Internet infrastructure services and eBusiness network platforms, can now offer its customers secure, cost-effective, scalable bandwidth. Genuity's customers can quickly upgrade in increments from OC-12c/STM-4 (622 Mbps) up to OC-48c/STM-16 (2.5 Gbps) speeds as their needs evolve and gain the flexibility of signing up and paying only for the level of service they need.

"Our Internet Advantage customers are increasingly looking for flexibility and higher performance in the services we offer. By implementing the speed and intelligence of a Juniper Networks IP infrastructure, we can now offer unprecedented bandwidth options for our dedicated Internet access customers, while enhancing our Internet Advantage value proposition with services that can be provisioned quickly and easily to meet the needs of our customers," commented Steven Blumenthal, senior vice president, engineering, at Genuity.

Genuity's Internet Advantage service connects businesses to the Internet via its tier-one, high-capacity nationwide backbone that uses Juniper Networks OC-192c/STM-64 IP routing technology. The Genuity service also provides a range of operational features to get businesses up and running on the Internet, including enhanced service-level guarantees, end-to-end problem resolution, 24x7 network management, fully managed provisioning, flexible pricing structures, scalable access options, and other advanced features.

"Genuity has been a pioneer in implementing high-performance IP infrastructures to support the growing and changing needs of its service provider and carrier customers," said Carl Showalter, vice president, marketing, at Juniper Networks. "Juniper Networks is pleased to team with Genuity to enhance those offerings with scalable and flexible solutions that provide a faster time to revenue and greater return on investment for Genuity and its customers."
