LambdaNet Communications Selects Juniper Networks for Secure Applications Connectivity

More than 60 datacenters and 20,000 kilometers served by LambdaNet's use of Juniper Networks

Sunnyvale, CA - September 4, 2001 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure systems, and LambdaNet Communications, a European high-speed telecommunications network carrier, today announced LambdaNet has selected Juniper Networks to build out its advanced pan-European network.

This new network service offering leverages Juniper Networks M-series Internet backbone routers to rapidly provision smart IP services such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to the satisfaction of LambdaNet's multiple customers: telecommunications carriers, ISPs (Internet Service Providers), ASPs (Application Service Providers), Web hosters, and content providers. All of these applications leverage Juniper Networks innovative multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) for the marriage of legacy and IP network transport.

"We've worked with Juniper Networks since we began the deployment of our European IP backbone. Juniper Networks scalable and robust equipment allows us to offer new revenue-generating services and gives us competitive advantage in the IP market," commented Dr. Dieter Finke, chief executive officer, LambdaNet Communications.

These first-class IP services, enabled by the smart and intelligent capabilities of Juniper Networks Internet Processor II ASIC and JUNOS Internet software, guarantee LambdaNet customers maximum reliability and security. They will be available from the LambdaNet's 62 European datacenters with connections into its 22,000 kilometer fiber optic network.

With the installation of MPLS technology in the heart of its backbone, LambdaNet is the first carrier in Europe to guarantee flexibility, transfer speed, quality, and dynamic management of bandwidth across its entire pan-European network. LambdaNet Communications' commitment is to offer its customers the best quality, through availability and reliability of services.
