FastVibe Deploys Juniper Networks Routers at Core of Content Distribution Network

M20 Internet Backbone Routers Provide Rapid, Reliable Access to Multimedia Network

Sunnyvale, CA - June 13, 2001 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure, today announced a product deployment at FastVibe, a Canadian content distribution provider. FastVibe is using Juniper Networks M20 routers to deliver broadband multimedia content such as near-DVD quality video and audio content over IP. Today's announcement marks the first phase of FastVibe's two-phase nationwide deployment.

The goal of the deployment is to make the service available in every major city in Canada. The first phase of the deployment includes a total of 30 Juniper Networks M20 routers in Toronto, Montreal, and a third major city in western Canada. Phase two continues the deployment from central Canada to the East Coast. FastVibe is focused on using its state-of-the-art network to offer customizable multi-media services.

Juniper Networks Internet Processor II ASIC and JUNOS Internet software are key enablers of FastVibe's service. With these technologies, M20 routers can be configured to enable capabilities such as traffic prioritization and customized billing. This provides FastVibe's customers with the ability to deploy high-bandwidth applications in a cost-effective manner.

"This is a great example of how Juniper Networks enables service providers to build rich IP networks that meet their evolving needs," said Carl Showalter, vice president of marketing, Juniper Networks. "Our products give FastVibe the ability to add value for its customers by helping them personalize the way they do business."

"Our customers are very aggressive in exploring new ways to distribute rich content," said Frank Maduri, chief operating officer at FastVibe. "FastVibe's goal is to offer a simple solution to quickly deliver audio and video to the Web. Juniper Networks provides us with a lower cost of ownership compared with alternatives and allows us to scale quickly without compromising performance or adding complexity."
