Juniper Networks Supports NetWorld+Interop 2000 Las Vegas Event

M20 Internet Backbone Router Selected for InteropNet Event Network Featured Product in Interoperability Testing

Las Vegas, NV - May 10, 2000 — Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation IP infrastructure systems, has been selected to provide M20 Internet backbone routers for NetWorld+Interop's InteropNet Event Network (eNet) network during the three day event. The M20 will also be featured in the interoperability laboratory—InteropLabs (iLabs) testing sessions.

The eNet, connects over 750 exhibitors, and all conferences, meeting rooms and Novell Connecting Points over a 12,000 node network. Juniper Networks M20s will route all Internet traffic including streaming video, audio, voice over IP (VoIP), Web and e-mail into and out of the show's 10/100 Ethernet connections.

"We are committed to delivering fast and reliable Internet service for multiple IP traffic types from streaming video to VoIP for our exhibitors and attendees," said Steve Wylie, director of network operations, NetWorld+Interop. "Quick set up and tear down of sophisticated networks is required. We chose Juniper Networks M20 because of its high performance and ease of deployment."

Juniper Networks has also been identified as a key vendor for the iLabs, for Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Multicast IP interoperability testing. The MPLS testing examines different levels of MPLS functionality.

"Interoperability is crucial to the wide acceptance of MPLS as a standard. Having established this we can concentrate now on new applications for MPLS such as voice," said Brian Brown, director of product management, Juniper Networks. "We are committed to playing a key role in advancing MPLS and to full interoperability of our M160, M40, and M20 Internet backbone routers."

Multicast interoperability testing will take place on the iLabs simulated Internet backbone. Juniper Networks will be demonstrating interoperability with other vendors over a variety of interfaces, from OC-12 to DS-3. Multicast routing across a single network and between networks will be tested to establish current levels of interoperability and identify areas of improvement.

Juniper Networks Internet backbone routers will be also displayed and demonstrated at various vendor exhibits on the show floor, providing further insight regarding interoperability and applications of the M series systems.
