Juniper Networks Routers Deployed by Navipath, Private Label Access Provider

M20 Router Delivers Advanced Internet Services

Mountain View, CA - April 12, 2000 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR), a leading provider of next-generation IP infrastructure systems, today announced a $3 million contract with NaviPath, a majority-owned operating company of CMGI that offers private-label Internet access solutions to corporations, affinity groups, and ISPs. In broadening its portfolio of services, NaviPath is deploying Juniper Networks M20 Internet backbone routers at points of presence (POPs) in its major backbone network nodes. The M20 platform will aggregate a wide variety of ATM access devices and leased connections into a SONET/SDH transit core.

"We chose to deploy the M20 router in the IP-based core of our network for its rock-solid routing protocol implementation, high performance, reliability, bandwidth potential, and Juniper Networks superior technical support," said Jim Winkleman, CTO of NaviPath. "This outstanding combination in one compact system enables us to offer the advanced Internet services through our recently announced NaviOne Solution Suite."

NaviPath is a provider of private-label Internet solutions for companies who want to offer Internet services without investing millions of dollars in infrastructure. NaviPath recently announced the NaviOne Solution Suite, providing all of the tools necessary for "Online Relationship Marketing," including private-labeled connectivity, subscriber management, information services, billing and customer care services. NaviPath's customers include Prodigy, IDT, NetZero, Surfree.com, Startec, and IDIGI Networks. NaviPath's local dial coverage in the US recently reached over 85% of the major market online user population with continuing expansion planned.

"By delivering advanced Internet services in addition to its existing Internet access products, NaviPath is aggressively targeting corporations and affinity groups that are branding themselves online," noted Scott Kriens, CEO and president of Juniper Networks. "By deploying leading-edge products, such as the M20 router, NaviPath customers can offer their own Internet services along with traditional marketing programs."

The M20 Internet backbone router is designed specifically for the specialized needs of high-growth Internet backbone providers. It features market-leading packet-forwarding performance, unparalleled port density and flexibility, and best-in-class Internet software. The router delivers the bandwidth required to grow backbones to OC-48/STM-16 speeds, while also providing flexible MPLS traffic engineering tools to ensure greater control over traffic and to increase bandwidth efficiency. The M20 router is a cost-efficient solution for service providers, enabling an open, multiservice core complemented by high-speed services at the edge in one device.
