| Feature | Benefit |
|---|---|
| Provides carrier-class architecture | A directory-enabled, distributed architecture provides the scalability, reliability, and performance required for next-generation networks. |
| Reduces expenses | A wide range of flexible services and billing models over a converged network infrastructure holds down operating expenses. |
| Ensures consistent quality of experience | SDX300 Identifies subscribers and their privileges, grants access to services, and provisions selected services with the appropriate level of network resources based on pre-defined policies. It also uses policy-based admission control, dynamic traffic engineering, and intelligent bandwidth management to provide quality of service to subscribers, sessions, and applications on a dynamic, end-to-end basis. |
| Maximizes branding and customer self-serve opportunities | Portals can be developed quickly using templates supplied for Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) application servers. The templates can be used to create Web pages and dynamically select and modify services to increase market appeal and service differentiation. |
| Supports open interfaces for simple integration | Widely adopted, standards-based open interfaces maximize SDX300 interoperability with a broad range of network elements, applications, and OSS/BSS platforms. Third-party network elements and applications can be integrated for end-to-end resource control in multivendor networks. |

Note that server system requirements can vary due to network size, topology, and number of users. We highly recommended that you consult with Juniper Networks Professional Services prior to installing SDX300.
Juniper Networks SDX300 Service Deployment System supports a variety of optional features — such as the Admission Control Plug which authorizes and tracks the use of network resources and enables application-aware call admission control — as well as Web portals that extend service control to individual users and administrators.
The SDX300 supports several gateways that extend its functionality, including:
| Gateway | Functionality |
|---|---|
| Diameter Gateway | Allows the SDX300 to provide centralized RACF/PDF policy server functions in IMS/TISPAN environments, and can identify, allocate, and reserve network resources to support Session Border Controller-requested sessions. Ensures a high-quality experience for VoIP and other interactive IP communication sessions. |
| SOAP Gateway | Allows the SDX300 to communicate directly with applications to identify, allocate, and reserve network resources. Ensures a high-quality experience for video content, business applications, and premium services. |
| Volume Tracking Application | Allows the SDX300 to track service usage to enable creative business and service models. Also enables interaction between the SDX300 and customer care, billing, security, and other support systems by tracking the volume of data used by subscribers and applications. The SDX300 can use this information to block or limit network resources on a per-subscriber or per-application basis. |
| Threat Mitigation Portal | Allows the SDX300 to modify the network (including the rate limit, as well as terminate sessions and quarantine abusive or infected users) based on events generated by security products. |
