Importing a Configuration File

This chapter describes how to import all or part of a configuration file in text format into the JUNOScope software where it is versioned and stored in the Concurrent Versions System (CVS) repository. Each time you import the same configuration file with the same name, it is sequentially versioned.

You can manually create a configuration text file using a text editor. The configuration file contents must follow the configuration file guidelines as described in the JUNOS Internet software configuration guides. You cannot import XML configuration files.

You can modify that same configuration file, then import it again.

Once imported, you can display the imported configuration, compare two revisions of the imported configuration, or restore a configuration to a selected device or a group of devices.

You must have superuser or read-write permission to import a configuration file.
