This chapter describes
how to use diagnostic tools to help you to capture and analyze routing
platform control traffic. JUNOScope supports the following diagnostic
tools:
LSP Ping—LSP ping is used to isolate and identify
faults in an MPLS-based network.
Ping—Ping is used to verify that the host can be
reached over the network. The output is useful for diagnosing host
and network connectivity problems.
Traceroute—Traceroute is used to display a list
of routers that exist between the device and a specified destination
host. This output is useful for diagnosing a point of failure in the
path from the device to the destination host, and addressing the network
traffic latency and throughput problems.
BERT Test — Bit error rate testing is used to test
the quality of links.
You must have read-only, read-write, and superuser permissions
to use the diagnostic tools.
