Configuring Sparse-Dense Mode Properties
To configure PIM to operate in sparse-dense mode on an interface, include the
mode sparse-densestatement. Include thedense-groupsstatement to specify which groups are operating in dense mode:dense-groups {addresses;}interfaceinterface-name{mode sparse-dense;}For a list of the hierarchy levels at which you can configure these statements, see the statement summary section for this statement.
NOTE: For sparse mode, you cannot configure a local RP in a logical router. You can configure a static RP in a logical router only if the logical router is not directly connected to a source.
You can configure graceful restart with PIM sparse-dense mode, but only sparse multicast groups will benefit from graceful restart. For more information about graceful restart for PIM sparse mode, see Configuring PIM Sparse Mode Graceful Restart.
For an example of a sparse-dense mode configuration, see Example: Configuring Sparse-Dense Mode.
