[edit interfacesinterface-name]Description
Configure SONET-specific interface properties.
On SONET OC-48 interfaces that you configure for channelized (multiplexed) mode (by including the
no-concatenatestatement at the[edit chassis fpcslot-numberpicpic-number]hierarchy level), thebytes e1-quietandbytes f1options have no effect. Thebytes f2,bytes z3,bytes z4, andpath-traceoptions work correctly on channel 0 and work in the transmit direction only on channels 1, 2, and 3.On a Channelized OC-12 interface, the
bytes e1-quiet, bytes f1, bytes f2, bytes z3,andbytes z4options are not supported. Thefcsandpayload-scramblerstatements are also not supported; you must configure these for each DS-3 channel using thet3-options fcsandt3-options payload-scramblerstatements. Theapsandloopbackstatements are supported only on channel 0 and are ignored if included in the configurations for channels 1 through 11. You can configure loopbacks for each DS-3 channel with thet3-options loopbackstatement. Thepath-tracestatement can be included in the configuration for each DS-3 channel, thereby configuring a unique path trace for each channel. If you are running IS-IS over SONET interfaces, use PPP if you are running Cisco IOS Release 12.0 or later. If you need to run HDLC, configure an ISO family MTU of 4469 on the router.
