Configuring the Management Interface

You must assign a unique IP address to each node in the cluster to provide network management access. This configuration is not replicated across the two nodes.

On services routers, you configure management access to the cluster by defining a unique hostname for each node and assigning a unique IP address to the fxp0 interface on each node. The fxp0 interface is created when the system reboots the routers after you designate one node as the primary and the other as the secondary.

On services gateways, the fxp0 interface is a dedicated port on the SPC connected to the Gigabit Ethernet control network.

Note: If you try to access the nodes in a cluster over the network before you configure the fxp0 interface, you will lose access to the cluster.
